Travel 2000

On these pages I will deal with two of my hobbies and passions.
I like to travel and I like to take pictures and visiting all those places, I see many visiting people doing just the same things, travelling, visiting and taking photographs or movies.

I already have a travel page, listing most of the places my family and I have visited, but on these following pages I will try to list them in a more chronological order.

I have many photographs and I have visited many, many other places that I can't at this stage anyway, categorise.

In 2000, we left Auckland for another tour of a few countries and attractions to explore.

We left Auckland for Bangkok where we spent a few days including 2 day trips to Pattaya and the Koh Lan Islands, where we did some para-gliding and jet-skiing in Thailand

We left Bangkok for Vienna where we spent a few days before proceeding to Salzburg where we explored the city, the castle, the salt mines and Obersalzburg (Hitler's holiday resort in nearby Germany) and went up some of the nearby mountains on gondolas.

from Obersalzburg we explored the Eagle's Nest and Berchtesgaden in Germany

before we returned to Salzburg, from where we went to Innsbruck in Austria

and from Innsbruck we went to visit Oberammergau in Germany again, before we returned to Vienna for another few days before we caught a train to Bratislava, present day capital of Slovakia,

but was also capital of Hungary a couple of times too, over it's colourful history.

Leaving Bratislava we took a train to Györ, in Hungary

where we hired a car for a 4 week tour of Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, including Pannonhalma, Lébény, Komárom, Tata, Veszprém, Balatonfüred, Balaton part, Tihany, Badacsony, Szigliget, Tapolca, Sümeg, Zalaegerszeg, Körmend, Szombathely, Sárvár, Köszeg, Répcevis, Zsira, Und, Keszthely, Saint Therese Nagykanizsa, Siófok, Tab, Kaposvár, Pécs, Mohács, Sátorhely, Szekszárd, Szeged, Ópusztaszer, Makó, from where we took a little excursion to Arad, Timisoara, Sannicolau Mare in Romania

before we returned to Hungary, to continue our tour around Gyula, Szolnok, Békéscsaba, Jászberény, Vámosgyörk, Gyöngyös, Ludas, Eger, Szépasszony Völgye, Recsk, Parád, Kékestetõ, Szilvásvárad, Vatta, Muhi Puszta, Nyiregyháza, Beregdaróc, Tokaj, Miskolc, from where we taken another little excursion to Kosice in Slovakia

before we returned to Miskolc and visited Miskolc Tapolca, Diósgyör, Lilafüred Királd, Ózd, Szentkút Salgótarján, Karancsság, Endrefalva, Szécsény, Patvarc, Balassagyarmat and Budapest in Hungary

where we spent another few weeks before we returned through Singapore

to our home in Auckland.
