Hungary, facts and history in brief Budapest, facts and history in brief VámosgyörkHungaryVámosgyörk is a small town, or a large village (I'm not sure), on the Budapest to Miskolc railway trunk line. It also has the distinction of being a railway interchange for a couple of branch lines, to Gyöngyös and Jászárokszállás, Újszász, etc. It also have the distinction of being another one of those places where the communists made my family to live for some while. We were so poor at the time, that my dear mum had to cook sugar-beet (The only thing that was plentiful and given to us by some of our neighbours at the time. The lady also thought my mum how to cook it.), for our dinner. Well, it was something to it, but I would not recommend it to anyone. The local railway yard was the playground for my brother - five years junior - and I. Not that I minded too much, since I've been fascinated by trains and things since I was knee high to the rattle snake. 1998
