Hungary, facts and history in brief Budapest, facts and history in brief BeregdarócHungaryBeregdaróc is in the northeast of Hungary, by the Ukrainian border. Another little village where my family was made to live by the communists for a while. Ironically, it did suit us at the time, because Hungary experienced rampant inflation and some food shortages specially in Budapest at the time, soon after WWII. I remember when I attended school there, we had to go into the cornfields to catch some bugs, that was devastating the crops. The teachers told us that the 'Americans' released the pests, to sabotage our harvest. In those communist days, the regime was very paranoid of enemies inside and outside of the country and the main enemy was America, we were told.
