part of Czechoslovakia.
Occupies an area of 49,035 sq km and is bounded
by Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Austria and
the Czech Republic and dominated
by the Carpathian mountains,
with the the Gerlach Shield at a height
of 2,655 m.

Slovakia facts and history in brief
Bratislava or Pozsony, or Pressburg is the capital and
largest city of Slovakia 56 km east of Vienna, Austria, on the
Danube River. Bratislava is Slovakia's main industrial centre
manufacturing chemicals, cloth, machinery, and petroleum products.
The main landmarks include St. Martin's Cathedral, and Bratislava
Castle.
Bratislava was Hungary's
Capital for a considerable time
during the Turkish occupation.
Population about half of a million.
Hui Chin, Endre and I, had enjoyed our stay in Bratislava.
