Volgograd Tractor Factory
Excerpted from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Volgograd tractor factory (VTZ) is a heavy equipment factory located in Volgograd, Russia.

The factory produces tractors and military equipment.
During World War II, the factory was known as the Stalingrad Tractor factory (STZ) and retooled to produce equipment for the Red Army, most notably the T-34 tank.

The factory played a part in the movie Enemy at the Gates, when the snipers used the factory grounds as a route to the battlefield.

N.B.
In fact there are two Tractor Factories in Volgograd
and it caused some confusion the morning we sat out
to visit the famous one, that was in the centre of
the historical battle, which is in the centre of the City.
It is a Memorial and a Museum to the battle, and
preserved in a ruined state.

The other one is a working factory and more than
15 kilometres from the city centre, I presume the
old ruined one have been replaced and relocated out of town.

Asking for the Tractor factory, both our hotel staff
and our Taxi were talking about, giving directions and
estimated price to the working one, way out of town.
