Mali, West Africa
Mali facts & history in
brief
Bamako is the capital city of Mali.
We landed at Bamako around 2.30 am on Tuesday and into
utter confusion.
We've already talked to some Australian people, who
were booked on a tour to Tombouctou. Our plane of action
was to find out as much as possible from them, which
we did, but which did not help us very much.
They were booked on the tour, and though they knew,
where they are going and what they were going to do,
they could not help us with finding the airline or people
who could get us on that plane.
We did find out though, that we could have got our Visas
at the Airport on our arrival.
We sat and waited at the Airport for the ticket office
to open at 6 am., as we were told by a number of our
hasslers.
Yes, the hassling (Young guys offering their services
as guides, hotel finders, Taxi drivers etc.) was insistent
and very annoying.
Bamako as a Capital city, well I better reserve my judgement
on that.
I have nearly lost my camera and got arrested for taking
a photo of the Parliament Building from the street.
Far out.
We enjoyed our hotel though and Dany the owner's boundless
generosity. (See my page of the Hotel La Chaumiere).
