Jordan facts & history in
brief
Qasir Iraq el Amir
(Cave of the Prince) is about 25 km
southwest of Amman in Wadi es-Seer,
dates back to 4000 B.C.
It was rediscovered in the late
19th century, but excavations only
started in the 1960s.
The eleven caves are in two rows cut
in to the cliff face.
The excavations discovered many
relics and many descendants of the
Armaic people inhabited these
caves are mentioned in the Bible.
