Slovakia a central European republic, formerly part of Czechoslovakia.
Occupies an area of 49,035 sq km and is bounded by Poland, Ukraine,
Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic and dominated by the Carpathian
mountains, with the the Gerlach Shield at a height of 2,655 m.

Roznava (Rozsnyó in Hungarian) is
the largest town and administration centre of the
Gemer district, with the population of about 20,000.
The name came from roses, which grows profusely on the
sunny southern slopes of the nearby hills.
Iron, copper and antimony have been
mined in the sorrounds since the 14th and 15th C.
The township have many interesting churches, houses, monuments and many
other attractions.
Hui Chin and I had a
good look around, the main square,
the township and sorrounds.
