facts and history in brief
Kremnica with a population of about 6000 is in the Pohronie district,
was one of the richest town of the Kingdom of Hungary.
Legend has it, that the King founded the city and granted it royal privileges,
after he shot a partridge and found grains of gold in his throat.
The local streams contained grains of
gold and rich veins of gold were
discovered in the vicinity.
The Hungarian King King Charles Robert granted free royal and mining
borough privileges and the township was established.
The first Hungarian coins were
minted in the town.
Many of Europe's gold coins and medallions are still minted in the town,
today.
Hui Chin and I had a good time exploring the town,
the castle and the fortifications.
During our explorations we've heard a very beautiful and haunting
music being broadcast from the nearby hills at midday.
Fantastic.
Awesome!!!
