brief
Kathmandu, or
Katmandu
is the capital and largest city
of Nepal, in central Nepal at the
foothills of the Himalayas.
It is a popular tourist destination
for its many interesting Hindu
and Buddhist temples.
Kathmandu has been inhabited by
the Newars about 2600 years ago.
In 1768, the kingdom of Gorkha
conquered Kathmandu and united,
what is now the kingdom of Nepal who's
people are mainly Hindus and Buddhists.
Population about 300 thousand.
Nepal was very interesting
and hospitable to us.
We spent days exploring
Kathmandu.
Taken a sightseeing flight
over the Himalayas.
And there are plenty of
Himalayas.
We did enjoy ourselves.
There are special flights to
the Himalayas from Kathmandu.
For US$100 per person you can go and
nearly touch these giants
of the mountains.
The Himalayas looked awesome
from our plane window.
Kathmandu was fascinating and memorable.
