Pahiatua

is a service town for the surrounding dairying, sheep farming and market gardening district, in northern Wairarapa with the population of about 3000 people, with wide, well planted main road.
The Maori name, meaning resting place of the gods.
It was established in 1880 as a construction camp for the road workers.
