Homer Tunnel

is the only road access between Te Anau and Milford Sound on State Highway 94.
The tunnel is about 1200 metres long from the Hollyford Valley to the Cleddau Valley, Milford Sound, in Fiordland.
Henry Homer discovered the Homer Saddle and suggested a tunnel in 1889.
Work started in 1935, but because of WWII, the tunnel wasn't finished until 1953.
