Dannevirke
is a small town in southern
Hawke's Bay, with about 7000 people.
The township is near Palmerston North and
mainly service and marketing centre for sheep and
dairy farmers in the surrounding area.
It was settled in 1872 by immigrants
from Denmark and the name means
'Dane's work'.
