Northern Territories, Australia
Australia facts &
history in brief
Alice Springs is a railway
terminus and supply centre,
serving the outback of Northern Territory.
William Whitfield Mills was the first European
to discovered it in 1871,
while surveying for the
Overland Telegraph Line and named after the wife
of the South Australian
Superintendent of Telegraphs.
The Flying Doctor Service is based here.
Population is about 25.000
With my hired 'beach-buggy' I
explored Alice Springs
and it's vicinity.
Did some 'reckless' gambling in the wee, small
hours at the Casino, taking full advantage
of the Air-conditioning,
and swatted some flies - plenty
left though.
"Some hot, up there!"
