Hungary, facts and history in brief Budapest, facts and history in brief MezõberényHungaryMezõberény is in the southeastern part of Hungary in the Békés county and district. Listed as "large" village, (According to Hungarian usage, just being under 'town' title, not entitled to be called a town and enforced to provide 'town' services to all its inhabitants, i.e. tap water, sewage etc.) This information might be outdated as Mezõberény looked a thriving little town to me when I visited the place in 2004. Mezõberény is known for its textile industry handicraft, lace and embroidery.
Hui Chin and I visited Mezõberény on a Sunday and practically the whole place was shut down. After walking around the township for a couple hours and taken many photos, we managed to find a little pub selling sandwiches etc., including some very refreshing beer. Great place, friendly locals. 1978
