Hungary, facts and history in brief Budapest, facts and history in brief KarácsondHungaryKarácsond is a village on the southern part of Heves county, 10 km from Gyöngyös. The first records from 1323 call it Karácsund. Which could make it Chief Und's property, but it maybe only speculation. The village's northern part is the Mátra foothills, makes ideal for wineries, while the southern part is part of the rich Great Plains, ideal for agriculture. There's rich coal deposits under and around the settlement, still unexplored. Four artesian wells supply constant fresh water. The climate is very moderate all year around. There's also Medicinal Thermal Spring in and around Karácsond. Karácsond easily accessible by the M3 Motorway the number 3 State Highway and the Budapest-Miskolci Main Trunk railway line. Rank: village Area: 3161 ha Population: 3180 Postal code: 3281 Area code: 37 o O o
We had a bit of a look around Karácsond during our visit to Hungary during 2007. A friendly little place with many nice ducks around.
