The Hungarian Revolution 51th Anniversary

Budapest 24 October 2007

Hui Chin and I were fortunate enough to spend our Revolution - Freedomfight's 51st Anniversary in Budapest, with members of my family again.

Somethings have changed since last year's well known, shameful experiences, the Police officer and his 'sidekick', that were in charge in those 'dark days' are gone, but the main concern of the troubles that deeply divided hungary in the last few months, the PM and his government still in charge and the countrywide unrest, demonstrations, strikes etc still going on as of today, mid December 2007.

Hui Chin and I attended a few memorial gatherings on the 22nd, 23rd and the 24th, but the main and most memorable memorial was held at the Astoria Hotel, like last year. (Like last year it wasn't exactly held at the Hotel itself, but front of it and on the streets around it.)

We were a bit unfortunate, because there were some very heavy showers during the 'open-air' celebrations, and we did get very wet.

The candlelit procession was a rather wet experience as well.
