Budapest, Hungary
I would like to dedicate this page to the Saint Stephen
Basilica (Szent István Bazilika) in Budapest.
The Saint Stephen Basilica (Szent
István Bazilika) is in Downtown Budapest.
It is a very nice church in the style of the Vatican.
The Holy Digit of our first saint, Saint Stephen of
Hungary (Szent István, first Christian king of
Hungary), is on permanent display, either in the main
part of the church or in the little chapel devoted to
the Holy Digit, beside the High Altar.
The Holy Crown of Hungary was gifted to Saint Stephen
by the Pope for embracing Catholicism on his and the
whole country's behalf and is very much revered by
Hungarians of yesteryears and today as well.
The Basilica was damaged during WWII and the 1956 Revolution,
it is now being restored to it's former glory.
