Spain facts and history
in brief
The Kingdom of Spain is a country located
in the southwest of Europe.
It shares the Iberian Peninsula with Portugal and Gibraltar.
In the northeast it borders France and the tiny principality
of Andorra, along the Pyrenees mountain range.
It also includes the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean
Sea, the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean and the
cities of Ceuta and Melilla in the north of Africa.
Spain has been a constitutional monarchy and a democracy
since the Spanish Constitution of 1978 was approved,
being divided into 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous
cities with high degree of autonomy.

Spain facts and history in brief
Sarolta, my daughter visited Spain during our
European tour in 1978.
With our Eurail Pass we went around Spain
visiting many cities of interest.
We had a wonderful time and a
memorable experience.
In 2003 Hui Chin and I travelled to Madrid,
Spain from Lisbon, Portugal, by the famous
Talgo express with our Eurail Pass.
We visited Madrid twice during our trip.
First, when we arrived from Lisbon, than we went down
to Algeciras and Ceuta and we cam back from there, before
we went to explore Barcelona.
Nice place, plenty to do.
Had a great time, both times.
During 2004 we travelled around Spain on our way
to and back from Morocco and Mali.
