DimitrovgradSerbia Dimitrovgrad or Caribrod (or Tzaribrod) is a town in eastern Serbia, southeast of Pirot. In Bulgaria, it is a known as the Western Outlands (Zapadni balgarski pokrajnini), a region which Serbia gained from Bulgaria following the Neuilly peace treaty signed on November 27, 1919. The town is populated mainly with ethnic Bulgarians. The previous governments in Belgrade neglected the area, which led to mass unemployment and low living standards. After the fall of the Miloevic regime, the Tzaribrod inhabitants have started to organize as a cultural community.
