Italy (Mainland) - Sicily Ferry

Italy

Italy facts & history in brief

Sicily is connected to the Italian peninsula by the national railway company, Trenitalia, though trains are loaded onto ferries for the crossing from the mainland.

The loading of the train, usually in 4 or 6 sections, shunting back and forth and the crossing itself takes about 2 - 2 and half hours.

There's a sort of coffee bar, canteen onboard with sandwiches, coffee, tea and a limited range of other refreshments available.
